Crenshaw Shuttle Shuffle, 2012
When do you get to see the space shuttle driving through Los Angeles? Really only once! Straight up Crenshaw Boulevard. They cut down the trees and took down the traffic lights as the shuttle cruised down the boulevard. This was a surreal intersection of my childhood as a NASA brat engaging with my professional world of urban design. The crowds of people were full of confounding joy, but I couldn’t help feel sorry for the trees.
